Although i am currently unaware of the name of the film at hand, i know that it is within the category of crime, mystery, and creatively goes in the direction of an arthouse type of film, where certain types of lighting is used, similar to the ones used in the film Kill Bill.
When it comes to the storyline of my film, it is based on a killing committed by a young boy by the name of James, in which we follow his life, days after he commits the crime and how it effects him during normal teenage activities, like school. The killing is kept a mystery throughout the course of the film and is only referred to in flash backs when being interviewed by the police, however the reason behind James' crime and where he stands in everything is kept secret and leaving the audience wondering throughout:
Was it in self defence?
Was it a planned attack?
Was it revenge?
But most importantly, who is James more deeply, in the film?
James is an average middle class, teenage boy, who lives in a flat with his family. By James having these characteristics not only does it represent the average teenage boy living in this area, but also some of the problems theses teenage boys may face like getting into crime. Because James is average, this allows the audience to relate to him, whether they are teenagers themselves and have similar stories, or whether they are older, possibly parents, or elder siblings who know or have known people in similar positions, overall being set in this environment, with current high levels of crime, i feel his alone may attract my target audience.

ReplyDeleteYou have developed ideas that consider how representation might influence the response of the target audience. It sounds like a film I would be interested to see. Well done.
You should define 'average' more closely.
Last sentence, 'his alone'?
