I completed a special task for my media coursework which was called the continuity task in which we had ensure it included a number of different things, these were to ensure match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule was included in the filming process. Although this task was not worth any marks, without it, 15 marks would be deducted.
My filming was based on criminolgy and involved a detective/police officer and a teenager in an interview room for questioning in which a few words were exchanged. I played the officer/detective and another member of my group, Alex played the teenager. Mya's role was cameraman and director, however we all we involved in deciding the different aspects.
During both the filming and editing process i learned many things. When filming my group focused a lot on the lighting, wanting a dark empty room with 1 table and chairs, we wanted this in order to create tension and suspense within the short clip, from this I learned that different lights and the way they are set up can create different moods. Also when working with the camera i learned that the 180 degree rule is very important as this can totally change the view of an object or what is happening from the audiences point of view, also shooting scenes from different angles is also a vital aspect as when editing it gives a variety of angles and choice allowing scenes to be shot from various view points.
Editing also taught new things as i was not fully aware and comfortable with using it. However although i am aware of the things i am ale to do e.g. cutting clips, special effects etc. i was able to become more familiar with these.

Great! This is by far the best attempt at this task I have read Cheryl, you have done well. You've obviously used the assignment sheet to help you write this and you've accurately identified the strengths of your work.
ReplyDelete2 areas for future improvements:
1) Editing is a large part of production work. Avoid the use of 'etc' and give one or two particular examples of what you achieved.
2) A blog is easier to read with bullet points, diagrams and broken up into smaller paragraphs - think about this as you present your posts.
